Daniel Drouhard is a multi-disciplined designer at Colab Digital.

TBH I had a heck of a time choosing the “right path” for my career when I started freelancing in the late 90’s. In the end, I followed my gut and the design opportunities that landed at my feet.

This adventure of tackling diverse creative challenges led me across disciplines—from graphic design to software development, marketing strategy to crafting LLM-driven workflows. Each new skill became another tool in my arsenal to solve increasingly complex problems.

So, how'd that work out?

This yielded a body of work I feel exceeds the brand-width of a single “agency”, “studio”, or “dev shop.”^*

^*That said, I do all my work via, Colab Digital, which I started in 2010.

The projects that excite me most exist at the intersection of design and technology, where aesthetic sensibility meets pragmatic functionality. I've found that my ability to work across disciplines allows me to see connections and possibilities that specialists might miss.

How does this help my project?

I approach each project as a leader and a contributor. When necessary, I bring in specialized talent to augment my own skills, forming up collaborative solutions for complex challenges while adhering to a cohesive vision.

This model of working—being versatile enough to handle multiple creative domains personally, while knowing when to collaborate—has allowed me to deliver a wide range of comprehensive design solutions to real business needs.

Are you good at anything, bro?

I've learned that being a “Jack of all trades…” isn't actually the limitation that's most often implied.

In fact, the complete saying goes: “Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than a master of one.” This reality has guided me and shaped my unique approach to creative problem-solving.

Today, I work on challenges spanning brand identity, graphic and web design, bespoke software applications, AI automations, and go-to-market strategy. Every project begins with understanding the desired outcome, not just the requested deliverable.
